You are great! I am a Pole (Polak ;)), I live in Poland and have found this whole Tribe (and Poland Tribe especially) by "accident". I started to read just to see what it is all about, but in the end I spend here aaaall night (I have not sleep - really!) reading, and truly learning about myself, my country, while most of the time laughing :)
Hah! When I saw this: "daime boojee jeme do wooshka" I laughing so much, that almost cry :)
And a thribe about our insanely beautiful womans - that one is great too :) I must show it to all girls I know - just to make sure they are aware of this fact (just as I am :))
I would really really like to thanks for all good words about Poland and Poles :) And for inspiration.. I swear to myself that from today I will pay much more attention to beautiful things that surrounds me. I feel guilty that I live in the famous Kraków for second year now (I study here), and I saw not even 5% of what I should :)
Thank you all!
P.S
I have noticed, that nobody talks here about polish music (apart from disco polo that was mentioned as the worst pop in the world ;))
I think that polish folk music may be very helpfull to understand soul of a true Pole :) Do not be scared - it is music played by young people in modern style, but with full respect to tradition.
It is authentic, uniqe, very fun and unbelievable wild music - you probably haven't heard such a thing in you live if you were not lived here :) Contact me so I could send you some samples of this amazing music - I can assure you will love it.
My favorites are:
Kapela Ze Wsi Warszawa (Warsaw Village Band) - I was on their performance few weeks ago, and it was the most stunning experience (related to music of course :)) I ever had, it was a phenomenon.
They take inpirations from village music mostly from the lowland Mazovia region (north Poland).
Zakopower - music played by mountaineers (I think it's right word) from Tatra Mountains (highest in Poland), from Zakopane in this case (south Poland). Even more close to my heart because my grandfather was native mounatiner, and my father was always very proud because of this connections (just as I am :))

Mon, December 12, 2005 - 8:59 AMThe Warsaw Village Band had their California premier this past summer in Oakland. I was there, it was amazing. Stunning indeed, especially Maciej Szajkowski.
They have a website - www.warsawvillageband.net

Wed, January 31, 2007 - 7:42 PMWitamy!
Thanks for the references. I'm also Polish (although I live in the States) and I'm very proud of my heritage. I come from a long line of coal-mining Warsawa ancestors. -

Re: "daime boojee jeme do wooshka" :D and some a-must-hear polish music :)
Thu, February 1, 2007 - 10:16 AMI am half Polish (on my father's side) and just decided to start learning Polish in September 2005. Since then I have made four trips to Poland, and loved it so much I want to move there. I've been to most of the major cities, but my favorite by far is Krakow. I am in love with Krakow! Poland is so much more romantic to me than the States, and I just felt like I fit there. I had never thought about it in terms of being proud of my heritage, but maybe only because it's such a recent discovery for me. I am stuck in San Francisco for the time being, but I hope to move back there soon! -

Thu, February 1, 2007 - 12:01 PMHahaha. I'm a San Francisco boy. Well, not exactly a "boy" any longer. I'm sitting in Warsaw right now. This is the most expensive place in Poland. If you can afford to live in San Francisco, you can afford to live here for one third less. Krakow? I'm not sure. Probably even less. Okay, have to go. Off to Thailand for the rest of this terrible (no snow, only rain) winter. Back in April.
